The Jakarta Post, Jakarta – Christians living in Jombang, East Java, have complained they have experienced difficulty obtaining a permit to build a church in the town for years.
“We submitted a request to build a church four years ago, but there has been no answer,” Chris Moekana, the Jombang chairman of the Indonesian Church and Bible Association (PGLII) said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com on Sunday.
The priest said his association had fulfilled the requirements to build a church, but the local government officials had appeared to ignore it.
“We can’t build a church without a permit,” he added.
Tempointeraktif.com reported the permit service agency head could not be reached for comment
